Piscirickettsia salmonis is a Gramnegative obligate intracellular pathogen of salmonids and perhaps other species of fish. It is fastidious and does not grow on artificial bacteriological media, but can be grown on fish cell culture lines. It is sensitive to antibiotics in vitro.
